Adrenalin Quarry
Just five minutes away by car. Zip wires, karting, aqua park, axe throwing (!?). So when the peace and quiet of Jopes is getting to you this is your place!
Zip wire at Eden
This is England's longest zip wire - plus five other activities for thrill seekers. Tip: this is run by a separate company from Eden and has its own entrance.
Shopping
Plymouth has a big shopping centre, but the nicest place to shop is Truro. 50 mins by car or the same by train. All the usual big brands plus lots of little independents. There's an indoor pannier market too. There are plenty of places to eat. Car parks get busy on Saturdays.

Horse Riding
Great Trethew Manor is five mins away by car and offers trekking for adults and children. Website here
Golf
The two closest golf courses are Looe and Whitesand Bay at Portwrinkle. Whitesand Bay has amazing sea views - recent guests recommended hiring a buggy as there is a lot of up and down. Or you could try your hand at the Jack Nicklaus designed course at St Mellion, about 20 mins away.
Fishing
Bake Lakes is only five mins away (or 30 mins walk) and offers course and specimen fishing. They also have a cafe. If you prefer to do your fishing at sea there are several boats that offer fishing trips from Looe harbour.
Cycling
SE Cornwall is hilly - very hilly! But the ride down to the beach is fairly gentle. We cycle ourselves and can recommend other routes - check out our Facebook and Instagram feeds on the right for our latest trips. Further afield there is the Camel Trail and the Pentewan Valley Trail (both about 30 mins by car). You can hire bikes on both trails.
Kayaking
You can hire kayaks from various places. Talland Bay is a lovely beach and the cafe offers kayak hire. If you have your own and want some recommendations do ask us - the coast around here is kayak heaven! There are more suggestions on our Facebook and Instagram feeds.
Wine Tasting and Tours
Charlie and Sue run Looe Valley Vineyard which is in a gorgeous position overlooking the valley between Looe and Liskeard. Enjoy tasting, tours and light meals on the covered terrace overlooking the vineyard. Advance booking essential.
Football Golf
The 9 and 12 year old boys to stayed at Jopes recently said that the football golf was the best thing they did on holiday! The name says it - you kick a football around a golf-like course. We can't wait to try it!
Spas
If you need to relax after all that activity! A couple of our recent guests have had a great time at the China Fleet Spa so we have included it here. About 20 mins drive.
Porfell Wildlife Park
We've had good reports from guests about Porfell. They have said that it's not just for smaller children but has been enjoyed by older children and adults.
